Link Lock Cyber Security Feature and FAQs

Penta’s Link Lock security feature adds security to protect you from malicious or potentially risky links that are sent through email. We are making this feature available to our Penta-hosted email clients for free.

The message “Links changed by Penta for security. Why?” is added to these emails in order to alert recipients, reply-to recipients and future colleagues of the changed links so that the email is not mistaken for phishing.

How does it work?

Link Lock provides protection against phishing and hacks by scanning the URLs contained in emails before allowing the linked website to be visited. This is done by rewriting suspicious links in emails. A rewritten link always begins with https://linklock.titanhq.com/. When the rewritten link is clicked, our system verifies if the destination URL is safe or malicious. If the website is malicious, it is blocked.

What is phishing?

Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers. Here are a few resources by Penta that can help you understand phishing:

What’s the impact of this feature?

Since all links in inbound emails will be rewritten by Link Lock, if you hover or click on a link, you will notice that the destination URL starts with https://linklock.titanhq.com/

Will I still be able to visit a blocked URL?

We have disabled the option to continue to visit a blocked URL for your security. We can enable it on your request, but we recommend keeping it in place in order to keep your IT environment secure.

What if a link is reported malicious but it isn’t?

You can easily get in touch with our Service Desk through any of the available channels to request whitelisting of specific links and domains that you trust. Email support@penta.ch.

What action do I need to take?

No action is required from your side. We will be rolling out this feature on our servers in the next few weeks and the process will take place seamlessly.

Is there any cost associated?

There is no cost on you for this feature. We are making this feature available to Penta on-premise email clients for free.
