First Federal Certificate course in AI launched in Lausanne

A pioneering new training programme has been launched in French-speaking Switzerland to prepare professionals from any industry for the country’s first federal certificate in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Announced in Lausanne, this initiative marks a significant milestone in the integration of AI into Swiss professional development.

The course, developed with the support of ICT-Formation professionnelle Suisse Romande and industry experts, is designed to be accessible to professionals from all backgrounds – not just IT specialists. Its aim is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to apply AI responsibly and effectively in their respective fields.

Over the course of the programme, learners will gain an understanding of AI fundamentals, ethical considerations, and practical applications across sectors such as finance, healthcare, education and industry. The certificate is part of Switzerland’s broader strategy to strengthen digital skills and ensure its workforce remains competitive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

By bridging the gap between technology and practice, the Lausanne initiative not only addresses the growing demand for AI expertise but also underscores the importance of democratising access to advanced digital competencies. The federal recognition of this qualification further highlights the strategic priority Switzerland places on innovation, digitalisation and inclusive professional growth.
