The demand for cloud technology is growing

The appetite for cloud technology is increasing. According to Cisco’s Global Cloud Index, in just two years, the Middle East and Africa will have the world’s highest cloud traffic growth rate of 41 percent.

Cloud adoption could be the largest service adoption shift that the IT space has seen in a while.

In the UAE and Saudi Arabian markets data center space has increased by more than 60% to accommodate cloud adoption, not to mention, that just two weeks ago the GITEX Technology Week hosted in Dubai welcomed almost 20,000 cloud computing buyers from 106 different countries.

But, what is driving this cloud technology growth?

Private cloud service providers, like Penta, are able to provide robust and high-quality cloud infrastructure that launches in seconds, is fully scalable and hosted securely in top-tier data centers. The cost-effectiveness of implementing cloud solutions is another reason why the demand for this technology is growing.

Cloud technology platforms are providing businesses with new, complex models that create a globally-based integration network. According to IDC FutureScape, half of IT spending will be cloud-based by next year and it will also become the preferred delivery mechanism for analytics.

What to expect from the growing cloud technology industry over the next few months:

SMBs take the lead on cloud adoption

Cloud adoption has given small and medium-sized businesses an opportunity to benefit from services they may not be able to afford in-house. It has also become an easy and scalable market demographic for services providers to drive sales, making this sector the champion behind cloud adoption.

This trend could be the largest service adoption shift that the IT space has seen in a while.

Traditional distributors will change their shape

The physical assembly of hardware and installation of software is starting to change its shape to stay in the game. Traditional distributors are fading away from physical products and are moving towards providing services to customers from data storage centers that they own.

This trend will allow services providers to choose services with effortless management and integration tools.

True cloud architecture makes an appearance

“The cloud” has become technology’s most fashionable phrase recently, its origin is not far from what it has become today – a system that provides services from a centralized location and a shared platform that looks after the information technology needs of businesses. However, over the next 2 years, we will come to understand true cloud architecture that could become the foundation of the cloud industry.

It will become more about the management and service delivery arrangement that exits at the top of the commodity cloud services and less about providing individual services to individual customers.

Service providers and small and medium businesses will need solutions that give them the ability to sign in their own services providers and create several users for different departments in their businesses.

This trend will open new doors for small and medium businesses that use cloud services and implement the Opex model of service consumption.
